RED SOX POSTCAST: Red Sox Open Homestand and Fall to Yankees in Disappointing Fashion

The Red Sox (81-67) returned home Friday night to open up a 6-game homestand and dropped the series opener, 4-1, to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. The Sox have lost 2 in a row and are now 1.5 games behind the Yankees for the top Wild Card in the American League. The Red Sox are now 4.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays.

Going with Gio: Lucas Giolito made the start in the series opener and took the loss to fall to 10-4 on the season. Giolito gave up a solo Home Run to Aaron Judge in the 1st Inning and an unearned run in the 3rd Inning. He departed with 2 outs in the 5th Inning and the Red Sox trailing, 2-0. Giolito walked 1 and struck out 6 in his outing. The Red Sox have lost his last 2 starts and are now 16-8 in his 24 outings on the season.
