In this episode, Pamela shares the last of the memories of firsthand accounts from survivors aboard the U.S.S. Drexler (DD-741). The Drexler was a destroyer ship that was attacked by two Japanese kamikaze planes during World War II on the morning of May 28, 1945. The ship sank 49 seconds after the second aircraft hit with 158 men killed (including Pamela’s paternal grandfather, Kenneth Dale Gruber) and 51 men wounded.
