It ain’t over til it’s over, but it’s pretty darn close.
Kyle Schwarber crushed his 50th homer of the season in Tuesday night’s victory over the Mets at Citizens Bank Park. The Philadelphia Phillies have a nine-game lead over the Mets in the NL East with 17 games to play. If the Phillies finish just 8-9, the Mets would need to finish 17-0 to pull into a first-place tie. Phillies fans remember 1964 (bad) and 2007 (good), but it’s hard to imagine something like that happening again in 2025.
