JMU's Missed Opportunity
JMU's defense shined against Louisville, allowing only 264 total yards. Two big plays - a 78-yard run and 64-yard pass - accounted for over half of Louisville's offense. Without those, the Cardinals managed just 122 yards.
The Dukes had chances to win but failed to capitalize. A dropped interception, overthrown wide-open receiver, and fumble in the endzone proved costly. Coach Bob Chesney lamented these missed opportunities, stating "we lost this game."
JMU's two-quarterback system lacked clarity, alternating between Alonza Barnett III and Matthew Sluka without an apparent strategy. The offense struggled, averaging only 2.7 yards per rush.
Despite the loss, JMU's defense looks formidable heading into its matchup with Liberty after a bye week. If the offense can improve, the Dukes could be a force in the Sun Belt.
