Family Of Tragic Eve Cleary Ask Health Minister For State Apology

The family of a young woman who lost her life after waiting 17 hours on a trolley at University Hospital Limerick have asked the Health Minister for a state apology. 21-year-old Eve Cleary from Corbally died in July 2019 from a blod clot that went undiagnosed, three hours after her discharge from the region's main hospital. Eve's parents, Melanie and Barry met with Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeil last evening after several attempts to meet with three Health Ministers over the six year period since her passing. They informed the Minister that they received a letter of apology from UHL about failings in the Systems Analysis Review only last Monday, asked for a state apology and discussed the processes surrounding investigations and reviews in the wake of her death. Eve's mother, Melanie Cleary has told Clare FM's Morning Focus that the meeting was short, but meaningful, and she hopes it will lead to more positive outcomes for families enduring similar experiences.
