El: Καλοκαιρινό απόγευμα στο νησί της Κρήτης.
En: A summer afternoon on the island of Kriti.
El: Ο Δημήτρης, φοιτητής με ανήσυχο πνεύμα, βρισκόταν στο σπίτι των παππούδων του.
En: O Dimitris, a student with a restless spirit, was at his grandparents' house.
El: Αυτό το σπίτι ήταν παλιό, πέτρινο, και καθόταν περήφανο στην κορυφή ενός λόφου με όμορφο κήπο γύρω του.
En: This house was old, made of stone, and stood proudly at the top of a hill with a beautiful garden surrounding it.
El: Δίπλα του, η Ιρίνη, η μικρότερη αδελφή του, πρακτική και με κάποιο δισταγμό αλλά πρόθυμη να συμμετέχει σε κάθε περιπέτεια.
En: Next to him was i Irini, his younger sister, practical and somewhat hesitant but eager to join any adventure.
El: Εκείνο το απόγευμα, ενώ οι γονείς τους είχαν βγει για ψώνια και οι παππούδες είχαν ταξιδέψει, ο Δημήτρης αποφάσισε να εξερευνήσει την αποθήκη στην σοφίτα.
En: That afternoon, while their parents were out shopping and their grandparents had traveled, o Dimitris decided to explore the storage room in the attic.
El: Τα ράφια ήταν γεμάτα κουτιά με παλιά αντικείμενα και αναμνήσεις.
En: The shelves were filled with boxes of old items and memories.
El: Καθώς μετέφεραν μερικά κιβώτια, ανακάλυψαν ένα μικρό ξύλινο τοίχο που φαινόταν διαφορετικός.
En: As they moved some crates, they discovered a small wooden wall that looked different.
El: Ήταν μια μυστική πόρτα.
En: It was a secret door.
El: "Τι νομίζεις ότι υπάρχει πίσω από αυτήν;
En: "What do you think is behind this?"
El: " ρώτησε η Ιρίνη με μάτια γεμάτα περιέργεια.
En: rotise i Irini with eyes full of curiosity.
El: "Πρέπει να το ανοίξουμε," απάντησε ο Δημήτρης, αποφασισμένος.
En: "We must open it," replied o Dimitris, determined.
El: Αλλά η πόρτα ήταν κλειδωμένη.
En: But the door was locked.
El: Ο Δημήτρης έψαξε όλο το σπίτι για κλειδί.
En: O Dimitris searched the entire house for a key.
El: Με την Ιρίνη να τον ακολουθεί επιφυλακτικά, προσπαθούσαν να θυμηθούν κάθε κρυψώνα που θα μπορούσε να είχε επιλέξει ο παππούς τους.
En: With i Irini following him cautiously, they tried to remember every hiding place their grandfather might have chosen.
El: Τελικά, μέσα σε ένα παλιό κουτί της γιαγιάς με ράπες και κλωστές, βρήκαν ένα παλιό χρυσό κλειδί.
En: Finally, inside an old box of their grandmother's with turnips and threads, they found an old golden key.
El: Με την ανάσα κομμένη από την περιέργεια, ανέβηκαν ξανά στη σοφίτα.
En: Breathless with curiosity, they climbed back up to the attic.
El: Ο Δημήτρης έβαλε το κλειδί στην κλειδαριά και η πόρτα άνοιξε με έναν θόρυβο που σκόρπισε σκόνη παντού.
En: O Dimitris inserted the key into the lock, and the door opened with a creak that scattered dust everywhere.
El: Μέσα στο δωμάτιο, βρήκαν κουτιά γεμάτα γραμματόσημα, παλιές φωτογραφίες και χειρόγραφα.
En: Inside the room, they found boxes full of stamps, old photographs, and manuscripts.
El: Ήταν αντικείμενα από την εποχή που οι παππούδες ζούσαν μια ζωή που οι ίδιοι δεν γνώριζαν.
En: These were items from the time when their grandparents lived a life unknown to them.
El: Φωτογραφίες από το γάμο τους, από ταξίδια στο εξωτερικό, και επιστολές αγάπης.
En: Photos from their wedding, trips abroad, and love letters.
