Republicans in the Missouri General Assembly want to place a board with gubernatorial appointees in charge of overseeing the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. It’s an idea with high-level support among police unions and Missouri’s new governor, but fierce opposition from St. Louis’ top elected officials.
