In 1915, brothers Earl and Brock Lee moved to Jazz City, Utah, looking for work in construction. But after a head injury changed Brock forever, he convinced Earl to help him pursue a strange vision: building a literal stairway to heaven.

For two years, the brothers labored on the side of a mountain, crafting a staircase that reached into the clouds. In 1917, their dream nearly became reality—until tragedy struck. A pilot named Ray Zenz crashed his personal plane into the hidden stairway, sending it crumbling to the ground with the brothers still on top. None survived, but in their own way, Earl and Brock reached the place they set out for.
