Not everyone has to be interacting with guests on the frontline as well, with a surfeit of meaningful roles behind the scenes in areas including facilities management and sustainability.

An industry veteran, who heads up a brand known for its appeal to young travellers and inventive activities for guests, gives host and ST correspondent Tay Hong Yi the lowdown on working in the sector.
