जैनधर्मस्य अन्तिमः तीर्थङ्करः महावीरः । सः शुद्धोदनमहाराजस्य त्रिशलायाः च पुत्रः । तस्य जन्मानन्तरं महाराजस्य प्रासादे राज्ये च धनधान्यादीनाम् अतीव वृद्धिः जाता इति कारणेन तस्य 'वर्धमानः' इति नाम कृतं मातापितृभ्याम् । सः बाल्यतः एव धैर्यवान् आसीत् । इयं तस्य बाल्यकाले प्रवृत्ता कथा अस्ति । एतस्याः घटनायाः अनतरं सः वर्धमानतः महावीरः जातः ।

Mahavira, the final Tirthankara of Jainism, was the son of King Shuddhodana and Queen Trishala. After his birth, prosperity flourished in the palace and the kingdom, leading his parents to name him "Vardhamana," meaning "one who grows". From childhood, he displayed immense courage. An event from his early years marked a significant transformation in his life. Following this, Vardhamana became known as Mahavira.
