Heavily armed gang members killed two Haitian police officers during an attack in Kenscoff, a farming community near Port-au-Prince, as reported by local officials.
Lionel Lazarre, of Haiti’s National Police, stated that the officers were killed while trying to escape from their armored vehicle, which had become stuck in a gang-constructed ditch.
Ulrika Richardson, the U.N. humanitarian coordinator for Haiti, indicated that 1.3 million people are displaced due to gang violence, and the humanitarian response plan is only 9% funded.
Richardson also reported that 2 million people in Haiti face emergency food insecurity.
