Description

On this VIDEO episode of Southeast Iowa Today John Bain attends the Henry County Iowa Board of Supervisors Meeting at the Henry County Courthouse in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. For the past year or so, there have been rumors and allegations stated that Planning & Zoning Director Joe Buffington received a $10,000.00 bonus. Citizens started to question this throughout the community and at the Board of Supervisors Meetings in Public Comment sessions. On this episode, Joe Buffington addressed the Board and the Public on this very topic and stressed that he never received this $10,000.00 bonus in question. In fact, he mentioned that in many cases his pay increases have been much smaller than other department heads in the County. After Joe’s statement the meeting went on to other topics. Those topics will be shared in another podcast episode. Included in this episode is Public Comment on the topic where Henry County Citizen Melanie Patton provides documentation proving there was no $10,000.00 bonus. She in turn implored to the Board to have more transparency when the Public has questions and to make information more easily attainable. Henry County Citizen Leland Graber shared his thoughts on this topic and others with the Board.
