Nuns on the Run tells the strange true story of a group of elderly sisters who used a legal loophole to leave behind convent life, spiritual obedience and the expectations of the Order of Saint Clare. We follow Sister Anna and the Belgian nuns from Bruges to their French castle dream, exploring the convent escape, the sale of the ancient building, the ethical questions, and the Catholic Church scandals that surrounded the fallout. It is a story about faith, money, independence and what happens when people who promised a life of poverty decide they would quite like a little sunshine and freedom instead.
