Welcome to Surviving the Survivor — the podcast that brings you the #BestGuests in all of #TrueCrime

Erik Menendez is hospitalized with a serious medical condition—undergoing multiple surgeries for large kidney stones—just weeks before he and his brother Lyle face a crucial parole hearing on August 21–22, 2025.

Their attorney is pushing for a medical furlough, while a California judge has ordered prosecutors to explain why key sexual abuse evidence—like Erik’s 1988 letter to cousin Andy Cano and a 2023 affidavit from Menudo’s Roy Rosselló—was excluded from their original trial. That decision could trigger a full retrial. The brothers were resentenced in May to 50 years to life, making them immediately eligible for parole after 35 years behind bars.
