The A’s wrapped up their series against the D-Backs in Sacramento with a hard-fought 6-4 loss that saw Jack Perkins make his first MLB start. The rookie had some flashes but also ran into trouble early, and the A’s couldn’t overcome a relentless Arizona lineup led by Alec Thomas and Blaze Alexander. Despite giving up three runs in the second inning, the A’s clawed back behind a two-run single from Nick Kurtz and a solo home run from JJ Bleday, but the bullpen couldn't keep it close enough late.
Missed opportunities loomed large. A bases-loaded double play in the second, a lineout rocket from Rooker in the fifth, and multiple innings that ended with runners left stranded. The bright spots? Bleday continues to shine, Kurtz looks more comfortable by the day, and the A’s continue to fight. But at the end of the day, the D-Backs got the big hits when it mattered most and walked away with the series win.
