Join me in The Red Treehouse as we explore the tragic and harrowing case of The Boy in the Box.

I’ll give a content warning right up front: today’s story is tragic and horrifying and contains graphic descriptions of child abuse, assault, and murder. Listener discretion is advised.

It’s a case that stumped investigators for 65 years, until 2022—when a major breakthrough broke the case wide open. If you searched for this case, you’ll sometimes see it come up as“America’s Unknown Child.”

Who was the boy in the box and what happened to him?
