2024 May 17 - Aurora Banks Peninsula

Published 1 year, 9 months ago
Description

In today's image, we see the Aurora Australis which is the aurora when seen in the southern hemisphere. That cause is exactly the same as the aurora seen in the Northern Hemisphere. The aurora have been prominent this past week because of the large sunspot group AR 3664 which has recently moved around the limb of the Sun due to the Sun's rotation.
