It took the final inning of the final game of the opening homestand. Mets were about to go winless in 6 games to start the season until Pete Alonso gave the fans a gift. A solo homerun to lead off the bottom of the 9th led to an eventual win as Tyrone Taylor gets the game winning walkoff hit. Even in victory, the Mets faithful were close to calling it a wrap on the 2024 season.
