Published 8 months, 3 weeks ago
Description
Surf's up, beach lovers and wave chasers! The California coastline is serving up some serious swell action today with some hot spots and cool conditions.
From Malibu to Santa Barbara, we're looking at 2 to 4 foot waves that are packing a serious punch. Rip current risk is running high today so listen up beach warriors - these waters are not for the faint of heart! Lifeguards are recommending extreme caution.
Water temperatures are sliding between a chilly 54 and 71 degrees depending on your coastal location. Santa Barbara Central Coast is sitting on the cooler end around 57 to 62 degrees while Malibu's waters are feeling more like a warm bath at 63 to 71.
Tide schedule is looking dynamic with multiple high and low points throughout the day. Expect a morning high tide around 3 to 4 feet hitting between 3 and 4 AM, followed by a morning low tide around 8:40 to 9:40 AM.
The swell is a mixed bag of west and south swells creating some interesting wave patterns. San Luis Obispo is seeing a solid south swell today running 3 to 5 feet while other areas are experiencing more moderate conditions.
Good news for tomorrow - rip current risks are dropping to moderate or low across most regions. Wave heights will stay relatively consistent but become slightly more mellow.
Bottom line surfers and beach lovers - today's conditions are challenging. Stay alert, respect the ocean, and maybe save the epic surf session for when conditions are a bit more friendly. Stay safe out there!
