Ep 26 - Change Happens to You, Transition Happens Within You

Episode 26 Published 1 year ago
Description

Most people confuse change with transition, but they're completely different processes. Change is external—you move cities, lose a job, get divorced. It's the obvious shift from point A to point B. Transition is the inner psychological journey of letting go of your old identity, spending time in uncertainty, then eventually embracing who you're becoming.

Without proper transition, change becomes just "rearranging the furniture"—nothing really transforms inside you. That's why people can go through major life shifts yet remain stuck emotionally for years.

Real transition involves three stages: ending the old chapter (even when it's scary), navigating the confusing middle ground where you don't know what's next, and finally stepping into a new beginning you couldn't have imagined from your starting point.

The key insight? You can't see your new beginning while you're still holding onto your old identity. Learning to transition well is what separates those who thrive through change from those who get left behind.
