We speak to business owners all the time and they have built a website only to find out the platform does not support their particular business type for payments. You might have to pay half a percent up to 2% to use an outside service.
I always say do your homework before you begin, ask questions.
WordPress is agnostic and you can use any payment processor - many of the platforms have limited what types of businesses they can approve for merchant services.
Also - will you need a fraud solution like 3D secure, Chargeback services, a gateway -and you need to make sure they are all compatible with your shopping cart.
