Southern California Surf Report: Moderate Waves, South Swells, and Perfect Conditions from Malibu to San Luis Obispo

Published 9 months ago
Description
Surf's up, wave riders! Coastal conditions are looking pretty sweet along Southern California's beaches today.

Starting in Malibu and LA County, we're seeing a moderate rip current risk with surf heights rolling in at 2 to 4 feet. Water temperatures are sitting comfortably between 64 and 70 degrees - perfect for catching some waves. The tides are doing their dance today with four key moments: an early morning low tide at negative 1.3 feet, a morning high around 4 feet, an afternoon low at 2.2 feet, and an evening high peaking at a solid 6.9 feet. A south swell is driving the ocean's rhythm today.

Cruising down to Ventura County, conditions are remarkably similar. You'll find moderate rip current risks and 2 to 4 foot waves. Water's a bit cooler here, ranging from 62 to 65 degrees. The tide schedule mirrors Malibu's, with similar low and high tide measurements. Another south swell is keeping things interesting.

Further south in Santa Barbara, things are mellowing out. Rip current risks are low, with smaller 1 to 2 foot surf. Water temperature is hovering around 63 degrees. Tides follow a comparable pattern but with slightly less dramatic height variations.

For our hardcore central coast surfers in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara's central beaches, you're looking at more substantial 3 to 5 foot waves. A mixed south and west swell is creating some dynamic conditions. Water's cooler here at 53 to 55 degrees, so grab that wetsuit.

Bottom line: moderate conditions, south swells, and plenty of opportunities to catch some waves. Stay safe, watch those rip currents, and enjoy the ride!
