I'm Frustrated

I'm Frustrated

Published 1 year ago
Description

Going outside of the normal format for a moment.

I’m frustrated. I get really tired of seeing Black people and specifically black men because that’s my experience, having to be portrayed as gangster or drug dealer or thug number two.

I’m frustrated not just for myself, but for any person that is an actor that sees that you have to do certain horrible roles to then push yourself to the next level. And I don’t even mean, push yourself in terms of grow and make yourself better, what I mean is that it’s like there are certain roles that you have to do in order to get to the roles that you want to do. I think that is ridiculous. And saying it’s ridiculous is the nice way of putting it.

If you feel the way that I feel about something in your life do. Not. Settle. If there is something that you feel like you should be doing, go do it. If you feel like you’re being given something that is beneath you or doesn’t tell your story accurately, don’t settle.

That doesn’t mean that you don’t have to do the hard work or the grunt work. No, what I’m saying is if somebody is giving you scraps don’t take them. Scraps don’t feed you and taking scraps shows them that you’re willing to take more scraps. Work for what you deserve and go take it.
