On this BONUS EPISODE of CASCADE OF HISTORY, Feliks Banel presents two interviews with Matt McCauley, a local explorer and diver who will this weekend see a plane he pulled from the bottom of Lake Washington 41 years ago take to the skies of Colorado. In the first conversation from April 2024, co-host Lee Corbin and Feliks Banel speak with Matt McCauley about his adventures retrieving sunken aircraft from Lake Washington. This was originally broadcast live as part of the world flight centennial festivities at Magnuson Park. On July 19, 2025, an old Navy plane McCauley and Jeff Hummel pulled from the lake 41 years ago – which has been restored – will take to the air in Colorado for its inaugural post-restoration flight. After the 2024 interview, we hear a quick update from Matt as he prepares to travel to witness the flight. This update originally aired on the live broadcast of CASCADE OF HISTORY on July 13, 2025.
