In Right Relationship | Rachel Harris, PhD - Swimming in the Sacred: Bridging Western Psychology and Shamanic Paradigms #12

Season 1 Episode 12

In this episode of In Right Relationship, hosts Liz Chernett and Lily Eggers sit down with psychologist, researcher, and author Rachel Harris, PhD, for a rich and expansive conversation exploring the sacred dimensions of psychedelic work. Drawing from her book Swimming in the Sacred, Rachel shares insights from interviews with underground women elders who have been working with psychedelics for decades. Together, they unpack key distinctions between psychotherapeutic and shamanic paradigms, discuss the importance of ongoing transformation over quick-fix integration, and reflect on the mysterious forces at play in ceremonial healing. Rachel also speaks candidly about her own experiences—from the Esalen Institute in the 1960s to remote healing with Shipibo shamans. A profound and wide-ranging dialogue on consciousness, responsibility, and the unseen allies that walk beside us on the path.
