Description
Fresno Police arrested a man in connection with two separate shootings. The first took place around 9:15 p.m. on April 11 near Ashlan and Chestnut avenues, where officers found two gunshot victims who were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in stable condition. A third unidentified victim left the scene before officers arrived. Two apartments were struck by gunfire during the incident, which occurred while a party was underway. The motive remains under investigation. Detectives identified Jershawn Worthy as the alleged shooter. On July 6 at 9:39 p.m., officers responded to Sierra Vista and Turner avenues for another shooting and recovered spent shell casings and an unoccupied vehicle. Witnesses reported seeing a man flee, who was later identified as Worthy. A search warrant at his residence resulted in the recovery of a semi-automatic firearm with an extended magazine. Worthy was booked on multiple firearm-related charges, and the case is ongoing according to the Fresno Police Department.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Jail Release records, several felony arrests stemming from the previous week included charges such as assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, infliction of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, and illegal possession of firearms. Angel Manuel Rumbo, age 23, was arrested and subsequently released on probation after being charged with possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun and an assault weapon. Larue Temple, age 46, was released on probation following charges of false imprisonment with violence, battery, and obstructing a public officer. These offenses occurred within various neighborhoods but were processed by Fresno Police Department.

Valley Crime Stoppers continues to seek public assistance in locating Rigoberto Simental Aguilar, a Hispanic male, 5’7”, 150 lbs., with black hair and eyes, wanted for alleged robbery. There is an active warrant in his name: H1907233. Authorities urge anyone with information on Aguilar’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP. Tips remain anonymous and could result in a reward if an arrest is made.

Authorities are also monitoring for trends involving firearms-related offenses, domestic violence, and robbery activity across Fresno. Listeners who have information about any of these incidents or suspect whereabouts are encouraged to contact the Fresno Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
