Garmin released a free Google Maps app for over 90 smartwatch models, enabling basic turn-by-turn navigation with vibration alerts and preview of upcoming turns. Users must set destinations using the Google Maps app on an Android smartphone, which must remain within Bluetooth range of the watch. The app does not support iPhones or standalone destination search on the watch. Fitness tracking features continue to operate during navigation.
