Setting up an effective press break begins with organized spacing and clear roles the moment the opponent scores. A common and reliable formation involves having one player, typically the best ball-handler (point guard), inbound the basketball quickly before the defense can get set. Two other players, often the shooting guard and small forward, should sprint to the sideline areas near the free-throw line extended, creating width and providing immediate outlets.
