Description
Nick Lodolo delivered a solid outing at Citizens Bank Park, limiting the Phillies to three earned runs over six innings, but Cincinnati’s bats never caught up. The Reds went a frustrating 0‑for‑8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men aboard, repeatedly squandering opportunities to claw back. Their lone bright spot came in the fifth when Will Benson crushed a solo homer off Ranger Suárez to momentarily slice the deficit to 3‑1. Philadelphia tacked on insurance late, and the Reds couldn’t answer, falling 5‑1 to drop the series to a rubber match. Cincinnati will turn the page quickly, hoping the offense wakes up in Sunday’s finale to secure a much‑needed road‑series win.
