Diddy Trial: Diddy And The Deadlocked Jury (7/2/25)

The jury in the federal trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs has reached a verdict on Counts 2 through 5 but remains deadlocked on the most serious charge: Count 1, the RICO conspiracy. Despite days of deliberation and a mountain of testimony outlining years of alleged sexual abuse, trafficking, and criminal enterprise activity, jurors have been unable to reach unanimous agreement on whether Combs led or participated in a racketeering organization. This deadlock on the RICO charge suggests deep divisions among the jurors regarding the scope of Combs' criminal liability and whether the prosecution sufficiently connected the alleged acts into a coherent criminal enterprise under the RICO statute

The impasse on Count 1 comes even after jurors requested clarification from the judge and revisited key witness testimony and exhibits. RICO, or the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, requires the government to prove that Combs conspired to participate in a pattern of racketeering activity, which includes predicate acts like sex trafficking, assault, and coercion. Jurors may agree that crimes occurred but disagree on whether they rose to the level of an organized, ongoing criminal enterprise under Combs' direction.

The jury  is back in court today as they continue to deliberate.
