But the turning point came in the 10th, when Austin Wynns—pinch-hitting for Lawrence Butler—drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly before Mason Miller came in breathing fire and slammed the door with 103 MPH gas to lock down the save.
Jeffrey Springs was solid over 5.1 innings, and the bullpen combo of Justin Sterner, Sean Newcomb, Michael Kelly, and Miller bent but never broke. Tampa got longballs from Christopher Morel and Danny Jansen, and Shane Baz punched out 11 A’s in a dominant start, but when it mattered most, it was Kotsay’s crew making the plays—on the basepaths, on defense, and on the mound. The A’s have now taken back-to-back thrillers from a playoff-caliber Rays team and are showing real signs of growth, chemistry, and fight. This win wasn’t luck—it was identity.
