What to Know About Disordered Eating in Gluten Free Teens
Description
Teens with celiac disease are at an increased risk for eating disorders, possibly due to the heightened focus on food that the gluten-free diet requires, leading to extreme preoccupation with food.
This connection is also observed in those with non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), as the need to pay close attention to a medically restricted diet can lead to disordered eating or an eating disorder
A growing body of research shows that having Celiac Disease increases the risk of disordered eating.
If your teen would be interested in helping further the understanding of this important issue, please ask them to complete this short 15-20 minute survey: https://upenn.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7PLY4ndEwF1xsVw
All their answers are ANONYMOUS. They’ll also be entered to win one of a few Amazon gift cards.
