Jazz traces its earliest roots to the African American communities in New Orleans, where blues, ragtime, spirituals, and West African rhythms collided. Brass bands paraded through streets, and syncopation became a new language of expression. The melting pot of Creole culture birthed pioneers like Buddy Bolden, often dubbed the first jazz musician.
