The time is now 06:00 AM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

At six o'clock in the morning, this is the latest update on the ongoing conflict and regional developments.

Israel continues its military operations against Iran and its proxies across multiple fronts. Over the past week, the Israeli Defense Forces, working closely with the Shin Bet security agency, have targeted more than three hundred targets in Gaza, including terrorist infrastructure, military sites, storage facilities, and missile launchers. Notably, on June 16th, Israeli forces eliminated a senior member of the terrorist organization Kata'ib al-Mujahideen, along with key figures responsible for orchestrating kidnapping and hostage-taking operations. One of the targets was responsible for the abduction and imprisonment of Israeli civilians, including Gadi and Judy Lin Weinstein Hagai, whose remains were recovered in a joint operation in Khan Younis earlier this week. Israel emphasizes that its military actions aim to dismantle threats related to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, as well as to neutralize terrorist organizations operating in the region.

In the skies over Syria and Iran, Israeli fighter jets intercepted an Iranian-made Shahed-136 drone in southern Syria during a broad operational campaign. This action forms part of a sustained effort to degrade Iran’s military and technological capabilities. Additionally, Israeli aircraft struck more than thirty-five targets in Iran’s Tabriz and Kermanshah regions, including missile storage facilities and command centers, with precise intelligence guiding these operations. The Israeli military reports that these strikes are designed to hamper Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its regional military infrastructure.

Iran’s response has been aggressive. Reports indicate that Iran launched missile attacks towards Israeli-controlled territory, with one missile impacting in a populated area today. Iranian media also reported a drone attack on a residential building in Tehran’s Gisha neighborhood, where one person was blown out of the building by the explosion. Iran’s military claims to have targeted an Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran with a drone strike earlier today, a move Israel estimates successfully eliminated a key figure involved in Iran’s nuclear program. Iran continues to deny negotiations, asserting that they will only consider ceasefire talks after Israeli strikes cease. Tehran has accused Western powers of complicity and has condemned Israel’s operations as acts of aggression.

Meanwhile, in the broader region, tensions persist. The Iranian regime’s propaganda apparatus is actively trying to sway public opinion, with some Iranians expressing skepticism and fear as explosions and military activity continue across Iranian cities. An open letter from Gedaliah Blum, co-founder of the Heartland Initiative, addressed to the Iranian people, encourages them to see the potential for change and to oppose the regime’s oppressive rule. He emphasizes that Israel’s actions are aimed at eliminating threats posed by Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, but regime change must come from within Iran itself.

In the United States, far-left groups have organized rallies across several cities, expressing support for Iran and opposition to Israel’s military actions. Demonstrators in New York, Washington, and California have waved Iranian and Palestinian flags, chanting slogans in favor of Iran’s resistance and condemning what they perceive as US and Israeli aggression. These protests are linked to broader political debates over US military policy and the scope of congressional authority to authorize military action, with some advocati
