Checks And Balances Within [Black] Love And Culture: Honoring Your Feminine Power, Overcoming Racism, And Extending Grace In Love

Season 3 Episode 21 Published 9 months, 3 weeks ago
Description

As women, we have more spiritual power than men; and men have more physical power than us. As humans in commuity, we have the power, authority, and responsibility to correct and redirect others when their behavior is unsupportive or unhealthy. In this way, there are checks and balances within relationships that help us to grow together without responding too harshly to mistakes.

So much content online talks about just letting guys go and walking away at the first red flag. But that doesn't take into account that people are walking out the consequences of their entire family history. Especially for those of us that are the descendants of enslaved people. We were not taught how to have healthy relationships.

Although we want a perfect Cookie cutter relationship, is that realistic given our country and race's history? No. So today's episode is about how to extend grace while maintaining self-respect, holding your personal power and maintaining boundaries in your soulmate connection... while also allowing him to grow into the man that you need him to be. And of course, you grow in connection with him, too.

Maybe we're not supposed to show up to the relationship perfectly. Maybe we're allowed to grow together.

Today's episode is LONG because it's fun. I'm utilizing personal life experiences, my family history, black history, and the movie Sinners to break down this point fully. I highly highly reccommend you listen all the way through.

Ya'll, we haven't chatted through the podcast in A MONTH! This is the greatest comeback episode of all time.

Enjoy.
