If we really want to do something for our womenfolk then we have to take the water scarcity head-on. In India, more than 600 million people are facing an acute water shortage. About three-quarters of households do not have a drinking water facility. Currently, India ranks 120th among 122 countries in the water quality index.Β The biggest brunt of water scarcity is on children and women. In Indian, many women for centuries have done the work of fetching water from rivers, ponds, wells and doing so even today. Something massive needs to be done to solve this problem which is such a basic thing for living. If we really want to have a meaningful International Women's Day let's empower our womenfolk by freeing them from this bondage of water scarcity.
