India's Supreme Court on Tuesday gave a deadline to all states and Union territories to implement the 'One Nation, One Ration Card' (ONORC) scheme by July 31. The original deadline for ONORC was March 31, 2021. The Indian central govt. had announced rolling out the One Nation, One Ration Card scheme in May 2020. This will help migrant workers to get ration at the place of their work in other states as well where their ration cards are not registered. India provides cheap foodgrain to nearly 800 million beneficiaries across the country under the NFSA 2013.
