RED SOX POSTCAST- Dobbins Turns in Strong Outing & Sox Clinch Series Win

The Red Sox (35-36) never trailed in beating the Yankees, 4-3, Saturday night at Fenway Park. With the win, the Red Sox clinched their 2nd series win of the season over the Yankees. The Sox have won 4 in a row, 6 of 7 and 7 of 9.  The Red Sox are also back at .500 for the 14th time this season and for the 1st time since they were 27-27 on May 24th.

Dealing with Dobbins: Hunter Dobbins made his 2nd straight start against the Yankees and tossed 6 scoreless innings.  Dobbins allowed only 2 hits (both Singles, he walked 1 and struck out 5 in improving his record to 4-1 with the victory. It was Dobbins 2nd scoreless outing of the season. He struck out Aaron Judge in his 1st 2 at-bats and got him on a ground out in the 6th that Marcelo Mayer made a nice play on.

Sox At The Dish: The Red Sox had the leadoff man reach in 5 of the 6 innings (scored 4 times) against Yankees starter and losing pitcher Carlos Rodon.  Trevor Story had an RBI Double in the 4th and led off the Bottom of the 6th with a Double and he eventually scored. Story has 12 RBIs in 12 games during the month of June after collecting 7 RBIs in May.

#'s of the Night:  The Sox are now 23-9 when scoring 1st.  With Saturday's win, the Red Sox are now 14-11 vs. the AL East.  Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with 3

strikeouts Saturday night. Judge is 1-for-8 in the series with a solo Home Run and 6 strikeouts.  With Saturday's series-clinching win, the Red Sox have now won 4

of their last 5 series.

Adding to the Pen: The Red Sox pulled off a trade with the Twins on Wednesday, acquiring reliever Jorge Alcala in exchange for minor league infielder Andy Lugo.  Lugo was playing for Advanced-A Greenville this season. Alcala, 29, has pitched in relief throughout his 7 seasons in the Big Leagues, all with the Twins.  Brian Van Belle was designated for assignment after he was added to both the 40-man and active rosters on Tuesday. The Red Sox traded Van Belle to the Reds for cash considerations on Saturday and he was optioned to Triple-A.

What's On Tap?: The Yankees and Red Sox conclude their weekend series Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.  Brayan Bello and Max Fried are expected to be the starting pitchers for Sunday's finale.  The Sox are 6-2 during their current stretch of playing 9 straight games against AL East clubs. After next Sunday, the Red Sox will embark on a 9-game road trip with 3 in Seattle, 3 in San Francisco, & 3 in Anaheim.
