Thesis Statement: A colorblind society is an unrealistic and ineffective solution for addressing racial inequality. True justice requires actively dismantling harmful racial constructs, addressing historical injustices, and fostering meaningful dialogue that acknowledges rather than ignores differences.

Preamble: President Trump’s motivation for promoting a colorblind society stems from a desire to unite Americans under a shared national identity, where race is no longer a factor in decision-making or social interactions. His approach suggests that focusing on common values rather than racial differences could eliminate division. However, while this vision may sound appealing, it overlooks the deeply ingrained systems and mindsets that have perpetuated racial disparities for generations. To erase conversations about race is to ignore the structural realities of ascribed status, social predispositions, and economic inequities, much like refusing to acknowledge cancer in hopes that it will disappear on its own.
