He saw his great-grandmother in this realm, who communicated with him through a silent language of understanding, and he experienced a level of bliss and knowledge beyond anything earthly. His experience was later confirmed when his homeless friend revealed seeing a guardian angel at the exact time Gerald was in the other realm.
