The time is now 12:00 PM in New York, I'm Noa Levi and this is the latest Israel Today: Ongoing War Report.

At noon, this is the latest update on the ongoing conflict and regional developments. Israel remains engaged on multiple fronts amid reports of escalating violence and international tensions.

In Israel, authorities confirmed that a suspect involved in a recent murder in Bat Yam, who had held police and rescue services in a tense standoff for nine hours, chose to jump from a rooftop to his death after negotiations failed. The suspect had been accused of stabbing his wife, and his death marks the end of a tragic episode that left neighbors and family members in shock.

Meanwhile, in the southern city of Be’er Sheva, security measures remain heightened following a recent arrest of an individual with suspected ties to Hezbollah. The Lebanese security forces detained a Hezbollah member in Nabatieh, accused of collaborating with Israeli intelligence and having access to hospital data, raising fears of espionage within Lebanon’s Hezbollah network. Reports also indicate that Hezbollah is actively monitoring and controlling its members, with one member from the region arrested for alleged spying for Israel.

In Gaza, despite public statements from Hamas signaling openness to negotiations, Israeli officials report that Hamas’s demands do not align with the American framework and show no signs of genuine compromise. The Israel Defense Forces continue expanding military operations and adjusting humanitarian routes as international scrutiny increases, especially with the ongoing Gaza conflict that has seen a surge in hostilities since October 2023.

On the diplomatic front, Iran has reiterated its stance that it will not accept any nuclear agreement that restricts its "peaceful activities," specifically uranium enrichment. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran is preparing an appropriate response to a new US proposal, which has been under indirect negotiation since April. The latest International Atomic Energy Agency report suggests Iran has increased uranium enrichment and is carrying out undeclared nuclear activities at multiple sites, raising fears of a breach of non-proliferation commitments. The negotiations, mediated by Oman, are ongoing, but both sides appear to be buying time, with Iran emphasizing its right to uranium enrichment and the US seeking guarantees on sanctions relief.

In Lebanon, reports confirm that security forces arrested a Hezbollah member, Mahmoud Ayoub, in Nabatieh. The individual, who served as the financial director at a local hospital, was suspected of working with over 700 Hezbollah operatives and potentially leaking sensitive hospital data to Israeli intelligence. The arrest has stirred concern within the community, especially given the history of Hezbollah's involvement in regional conflicts and espionage activities.

In Ukraine, peace talks in Istanbul have concluded after a brief round of negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian representatives. The discussions focused on prisoner exchanges, with Ukraine’s delegation presenting a list of children taken captive by Russian forces, and both sides agreeing to future exchanges. President Zelensky announced preparations for additional prisoner swaps, with an estimated 6,000 bodies from both sides to be exchanged under a 1:1 model.

Internationally, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Hakabi sharply criticized Western media outlets, accusing them of propagating Hamas’s narrative regarding humanitarian aid and food distribution in Gaza. Hakabi called out CNN, AP, and the New York Times for allegedly spreading false reports that have fueled anti-Semitic sentime
