‘Overworked’ state ferry engineers call for competitive wages

About three years ago, 60% of the ferry system’s jobs were vacant. They’ve been slowly closing that gap but officials say the ferry system is 10% short of the minimum number of masters and bridge crew. The engineers’ union says they’re short nearly 20% of that minimum.
