On today’s show, we will be traveling to sunny California where I will chat with returning guest, Detective Adam Richardson about his job aboard a police helicopter.

Adam has been flying in police helicopters as the
Tactical Flight Officer for years in police related operations and search and rescue. If you include police aviation in your stories, especially stories including police helicopters, you will want to listen to this episode.

Adam also unveils his new course for writers, “CRIME-FICTION GUNS COURSE.” This course is specifically for those authors who have had little or no exposure to guns and want to gain an understanding so they can craft realistic scenes related to firearms.

In this episode you will learn:

  • What is the special training and equipment that is utilized on the crew of police helicopters?
  • How a police officer is selected to be on the crew of a police helicopter.
  • When a police helicopter is utilized in police operations.
  • How the helicopter crew communicates with the officers on the ground.
  • Under what circumstances is it appropriate for a police helicopter to land and render aid to officers?
  • How pilots are selected for this dangerous, lifesaving job.

Police Stories: Street Cop to Sergeant is the unfiltered story of my years as a Milwaukee street cop. The dark calls. The dark humor. The partners who became family. And the price
