Today, the gospel continues to tell us about joy. That no one will remove our joy from us is what Jesus assures us. Very much part of our Christian vocation is being joyful. Are we happy? We should be happy--not in the sense of an animal that is excited because it is going to eat--in the sense of celebrating life. We are joyful because we are headed for Heaven. We are joyful because God is our Father. If our joy is dependent on external factors, then we should expect our joy to be unstable. One who keeps his sights on the goal of a trip, he will maintain his hopes up. One who forgets the goal or when one neglects to keep in mind that goal, we would expect that he or she would become sad at times. Hope gives us life. New life cheers us up.
