King Charles hails ‘strong and free’ Canada in historic throne speech

Published 1 year ago
Description

King Charles made an historic throne speech in parliament, where he reaffirmed Canadian sovereignty amid tension with the United States. While King Charles III doesn't typically interfere in politics, the monarch's whirlwind tour of Canada was clearly intended as a strong show of support for this country's borders. Although, just hours after the King and Queen wrapped up their royal tour, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Canada is "considering" an offer to become the 51st state. Plus, Hudson's Bay sets a date to close all stores in Canada. What it means for thousands of employees at Canada's oldest company.
