冰桶挑战赛于2014年风靡全球（a global viral campaign），这项活动旨在为罕见疾病渐冻症（ALS, a rare disease）筹集善款并提高公众认知（ raise money and awareness）。

参与者需将冰水浇在自己头上，并点名邀请他人（nominate others）接受挑战。被点名者需要在24小时内完成挑战，或选择向渐冻症研究所捐赠（donate）100美元。

It gained massive participation, including celebrities (名人) like Bill Gates (比尔•盖茨) and Obama (奥巴马), and raised over $200 million—making it one of social media’s most successful charity (慈善) movements.
