भक्तराजः प्रह्लादः

Episode 199

त्रिषु लोकेषु देवताभ्योऽपि महान् पूजनीयः प्रह्लादः इन्द्रेण न असह्यत । सः ब्राह्मणवेषं धृत्वा प्रह्लादनिकटम् आगत्य अकथयत् 'भवतः इहलौकिकस्य पारलौकिकस्य च कल्याणमार्गस्य तत्त्वम् उपदिशतु' इति । तदङ्गीकृत्य प्रह्लादः ज्ञानतत्त्वं बोधयित्वा अन्ते' यद् इष्यते तद् याच्यताम्' इति यदा अवदत् तदा कपटवेषधारी इन्द्रः 'भवतः शीलं ग्रहीतव्यम् इति मम इच्छा' इति प्रत्यवदत् । प्रह्लादः तस्य वचनं पूरितवान् । तदनन्तरं प्रह्लादः एतत् भगवतः आशीर्वादं मन्यमानः नैमिषारण्यं गत्वा भगवतः ध्यानं कुर्वन् आनन्देन दिनानि अयापयत् ।
(“केन्द्रीयसंस्कृतविश्वविद्यालयस्य अष्टादशीयोजनान्तर्गततया एतासां कथानां ध्वनिप्रक्षेपणं क्रियते”)

Prahlada, who is greater and more venerable than the gods, was unbearable to Indra. Disguised as a Brahmin, Indra approached Prahlada and asked, "Please teach me the essence of the path to welfare in this world and the next". Accepting this request, Prahlada imparted the knowledge of the truth. At the end, when Prahlada asked Indra to request whatever he desired, the deceitful Indra replied, "It is my wish to imbibe your character". Prahlada fulfilled his request. Thereafter, considering this as a blessing from the Lord, Prahlada went to Naimisharanya, meditated on the Lord, and spent his days in bliss.
