Episode 885 Published 1 year ago
Description
St. Paul Cathedral's next free organ recital features Adam Brakel! Adam talks with Jim Cunningham live on the WQED-FM morning show about his concert and his background. Adam is a Pittsburgh native who now lives in Palm Beach, Florida. He reminisces growing up in the South Hills, studying at Duquesne University, and working at St. Paul's for a time. His program features a diverse selection of works, including pieces by Max Reger in honor of Bach's 275th death anniversary. The concert will also include a world premiere by a local composer, Robert Farrell, who is also the composer-in-residence at St. Paul's. Adam talks about the historic organ in St. Paul, and what his work entails now. He also highlights his background, studying with John Walker, and studying music at the age of 4. He emphasizes the importance of Bach in his program, and hopes that everyone comes to this free concert to hear his work. You can hear Adam Brakel this Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 pm at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland. Visit https://saintpaulcathedral.org/cathedral-concert-series to learn more.
