It’s a question we often ask of our elected women: why did you run for office? Hear from Delegate April Miller of the Maryland General Assembly, an optometrist whose children’s education woes inspired her to advocate for more change in education policy, and Councilmember Lydia Assefa-Dawson of Federal Way Washington, who received a call from a state representative encouraging her to run when a vacancy opened in her district–10 years ago.
