“Expectations aren’t a burden, they’re a privilege.” – Lebron James

Whether you create the expectations for yourself or the expectations are placed upon you, they are there for a reason. Embrace them with open arms.

I know that there are unfair expectations thrust upon people. But I don’t look at that as expectation. I look at that as a burden.

Expectations in a positive sense get you uncomfortable in ways that challenge you to improve upon yourself and what you do. You should feel pushed or pulled in the right direction.

A burden means that you are bogged down by something. It’s a heavy load, some sort of despair. It’s something you HAVE to do.

A privilege on the other hand is something you get to do. You feel joy in doing it even if others may not. You feel grateful for the opportunity to do it, almost lucky. It lifts you and others up.

What’s intriguing is that a privilege to some, could be a burden to others.

Look towards your expectations as a privilege and you’ll always find something to be grateful for.
